Job Profile
JOB SUMMARY:
The Cancer Registry Manager demonstrates expertise in Cancer Registry functions. The Manager will have oversight and supervision of all Harris Health System Cancer Registry Program work activities and registry operation. Responsible for staffing and management. Manager produces reports, performs audits and provides training. The Manager codes, stages and abstracts all cases of cancer diagnosed and / or treated at Harris Health. Assures compliance related to Texas Cancer Registry guidelines, American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and Commission on Cancer (CoC). Performs data entry utilizing Elekta (Mosaiq) software. Maintains the quality and integrity of the data base, and ensures departments compliance of all internal and external policy, regulations and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure:
Bachelors degree required in Health Care Info Management (preferred) or applicable field.
Certified Tumor Registrar required.
Work Experience (Years and Area):
Three (3) to five (5) years in in an ACoS accredited Cancer Registry department.
Management Experience (Years and Area):
Three (3) years management experience in a Cancer Registry department.
Equipment Operated:
PC, calculator, Microsoft Office.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contract); Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking);
Writing /Composing (Correspondence/Reports)
Other Skills:
Analytical; CRT; Medical Terms; P.C.; Statistical; Typing 45 wpm; Word Processing
Advanced Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Major): Health Care Info Management (preferred) or applicable field.
Work Schedule: Flexible
Other Requirements:
Familiar with Electronic Medical Record and Cancer Registry software systems. Excellent time
management and able to respond quickly to completing priorities. Knowledge of American College of
Surgeons Standards, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Elekta Cancer
Registry software program; SEER, FORDS manual, and AJCC staging manual.
