The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Commercial Operations Leader to join our team at a pivotal moment in MiniMed's journey. This senior leader will serve as the strategic backbone of our commercial organization - architecting the data, analytics, forecasting, and operational infrastructure that empowers our sales and marketing teams to perform at the highest level.
This is not a role for someone who manages the status quo. We are looking for a builder, a strategist, and an innovator - someone who sees the intersection of data, technology, and commercial execution as the ultimate competitive advantage, and who has the vision and track record to prove it.
This position is hybrid, 3 days per week, onsite in San Antonio, TX
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Strategic Vision & Roadmap - Data & Analytics
  • Define and drive the multi-year data and analytics strategy for the commercial organization, aligned to MiniMed's broader business objectives
  • Architect a scalable analytics roadmap that evolves from reporting and descriptive insights to predictive and prescriptive intelligence
  • Partner with senior leadership across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and IT to ensure data assets are leveraged as a strategic differentiator
  • Champion a data-driven culture across the commercial organization, raising the analytical literacy and decision-making quality of teams at every level
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive executive decision-making and field performance

Forecasting Excellence
  • Lead and continuously improve the commercial forecasting function, including demand forecasting, sales planning, and revenue projection methodologies
  • Build robust, repeatable forecasting models that integrate market dynamics, customer behavior, competitive intelligence, and business trends
  • Establish forecast accuracy benchmarks and accountability frameworks that drive continuous improvement across the organization
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure forecast alignment across the enterprise
  • Deliver forecasts with confidence intervals, scenario planning, and risk-adjusted views that enable agile business decision-making

Standard Operating Mechanisms
  • Design, implement, and scale standard operating mechanisms (SOMs) that create consistency, accountability, and velocity across commercial operations
  • Build a rhythm of business - including cadenced reviews, performance dashboards, pipeline management processes, and field reporting frameworks - that keeps the organization aligned and moving with purpose
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, playbooks, and governance frameworks that institutionalize best practices and reduce operational friction
  • Drive adoption of operating mechanisms across regional and field teams, ensuring compliance and continuous refinement over time
  • Create feedback loops between field execution and central operations to ensure SOMs remain relevant, practical, and impactful

Automation & Artificial Intelligence
  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and implementation of automation opportunities across commercial operations - eliminating manual work and freeing teams to focus on high-value activities
  • Define and execute MiniMed's AI strategy for commercial operations, including the deployment of AI-powered tools for forecasting, customer segmentation, territory optimization, and sales performance analytics
  • Partner with IT, Data Engineering, and external vendors to build and scale AI/ML capabilities that are embedded into day-to-day commercial workflows
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging AI and automation technologies, proactively identifying how new capabilities can be applied to drive competitive advantage
  • Develop a clear ROI framework for automation and AI investments, ensuring alignment with business priorities and measurable outcomes

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Commercial Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement
  • Attract and retain top talent with deep expertise in analytics, data engineering, forecasting, and operations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Chief Commercial Officer and senior commercial leadership
  • Represent Commercial Operations in executive forums, cross-functional planning sessions, and strategic initiatives
  • Model MiniMed's values and champion an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative team culture

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, or a related function within a commercial organization
  • Or, advanced degree and 8+ years of of progressive experience in Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, or a related function within a commercial organization
  • 7+ years of Proven leadership experience managing high-performing, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success building and executing a data & analytics strategy that drove measurable commercial outcomes
  • Deep expertise in commercial forecasting - including methodology design, model development, and forecast governance
  • Proven track record of designing and scaling standard operating mechanisms that improved organizational performance and accountability
  • Hands-on experience leading automation and AI initiatives within a commercial or business operations context
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, align, and inspire senior stakeholders across the organization
  • Proficiency with modern analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Salesforce, or equivalent)
  • Experience in the medical device, healthcare, or life sciences industry
  • Familiarity with AI/ML platforms and tools applied to commercial use cases (e.g., predictive analytics, NLP, recommendation engines)
  • Experience with CRM systems, ERP platforms, and commercial data infrastructure
  • MBA or advanced degree in Business, Analytics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience operating in a post-carve-out or high-growth environment where building from the ground up was required

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):167000 - 285000
For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $186,000 - $316,000 USD.
Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
