Job description

TRAINING PROVIDED FOR THE RIGHT PERSON

This is the entry level classification into the appraiser job series. Incumbents are responsible for collecting data and preparing reports under direct supervision. Data collection will primarily consist of the physical surveying of residential and commercial properties and interviewing residents as needed to confirm the condition of individual properties. A designated appraiser will provide training and supervision. Additional duties may include:

  • Inspect subject properties, neighborhoods and markets
  • Research factual data respecting individual properties, neighborhoods and markets
  • Research sale and rental transactions
  • Data entry into the computer system to maintain accurate listings
  • Prepare reports

High School diploma or G.E.D., construction, vertical, Drafting, Appraisal trainee or class and/or real estate experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have preparatory appraisal course work related to the measuring/listing of structures and data collection for appraisals. Licensing Requirements: Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle is required (mileage will be reimbursed).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machinery and equipment, including, but not limited to computers, calculators, facsimile machines, copiers, tape recorders, digital cameras, and telephones.
  • Must be able to move or carry job-related objects or materials to 30 pounds in weight.
  • Must be physically capable of reaching to obtain various books, printouts, file boxes, computer paper, etc.
  • Must be legally and physically able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, and negotiate without mechanical assistance around properties and construction sites.
