Season: Fall Marching Band Season
Position Summary
Lakeland Regional High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced Color Guard Instructor to lead the Color Guard program as part of the Lancer Marching Band. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and developing students in flag, dance, movement, and performance techniques while fostering a positive, inclusive, and educational environment.
The Color Guard Instructor will work collaboratively with the Marching Band Director and instructional staff to support the artistic and competitive goals of the marching band program.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, teach, and choreograph routines for the Color Guard program.
  • Instruct students in flag, dance, and visual performance techniques; experience with rifle and saber instruction is preferred.
  • Attend and instruct at summer band camp, rehearsals, football games, competitions, parades, and other scheduled performances.
  • Promote student growth, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Collaborate with the Band Director and marching band staff to ensure a cohesive visual performance.
  • Assist with recruiting and retaining students for the Color Guard program.
  • Maintain and organize equipment, uniforms, and other program materials.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during all rehearsals and performances.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience instructing high school or collegiate color guard, winter guard, or marching band programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of choreography, movement, and color guard fundamentals.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or be eligible to obtain a New Jersey Substitute Credential.
  • Must satisfy all New Jersey Department of Education employment requirements, including criminal history background clearance.

Compensation
  • $4,000 stipend in accordance with the Lakeland Education Association (LEA) Negotiated Agreement.
