PRIMARY FUNCTION: The JROTC instructor will successfully incorporate the Student Learning Management System (like CPS or CDMIS) within classroom instruction, and implement curriculum planning, military educational programs, drill and ceremonies, and educational administration, including tests and measurements.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.
Educational Level: Bachelor's degree
2.
Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate. In addition, all JROTC candidates must be screened and certified by the specific branch of the JROTC program office prior to being hired.
3.
Experience: Hold official military retirement orders, or a DD Form 214 Member Copy #4, with Block #24
reflecting honorable retirement from a branch of military service (Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Navy). National Guard personnel may, in lieu of the DD Form 214, use NGB Form 22, with Block #24 reflecting honorable retirement. (PSC rule 505-2-.10).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2.
Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more of the following subjects to secondary pupils: leadership development, leadership theory, drill and ceremonies, hygiene and first aid, techniques of oral communication, marksmanship and safety, military history, military structure and purpose, staff functions and procedures; instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and
the school districts.
3.
Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so that demonstration, instruction, and practice can be completed; maintains an auditable record of pupil attendance and makes daily reports; evaluates each pupil's performance and prepares progress reports; communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil
progress.
4.
Demonstrates skills and prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning; instructs pupils in use, care, and safe operation of military weapons; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment; controls assigned military clothing, equipment, and supplies to prevent loss or abuse.
5.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive learning environment; instructs pupils in importance to military service of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits.
6.
Maintains knowledge of military job entry requirements and current military methods and equipment.
7.
Evaluates, selects, requisitions and inventories books, instructional aids, equipment, and instructional supplies.
8.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities.
9.
Submits documents for planning field trips per school district policies; Plans extracurricular activities for the unit (including color/honor guard ceremonies, drill team and rifle team competitive meets, field trips to historical sites, local government agencies, parades, basic leadership training, and so on).
10.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs; participates in faculty committees and the
sponsorship of student activities.
11.
Demonstrates responsible use of leave; prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent; is punctual in maintaining required work schedules.
12.
Exhibits professionalism in all job related situations; follows professional ethics in all work related activities; presents a personal appearance which enhances the image of the school; communicates responsibly with all individual and groups; demonstrates loyalty to the school and its leadership; avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale by working cooperatively with colleagues and the community; adheres to local school procedures and regulations in a supportive manner.

Promotes a positive school environment that enhances student learning; helps maintain a positive, cooperative climate; promotes the responsible use of materials and equipment; maintains and plans according to policies and/or directives.
