We are seeking candidates who have good interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work productively without close supervision, good interpersonal communication skills, basic computer literacy, attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures and confidentiality policies. Successful candidates must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Training will be provided for applicants who are hired.

Department Summary
The OHIO Chillicothe Student Services department seeks enthusiastic and engaging students to join our teams. Student Services Student Assistants provide support to the Student Services Department, Admissions, Shoemaker Center, and other administrative units by serving at the Bennett Hall Information Desk, Student Services Suite, and other areas of campus. Duties may include the following:
  1. Learning and understanding campus details including units, employees, and processes in order to assist all members of the campus community.
  2. Greeting and directing campus visitors to the appropriate campus units.
  3. Answering and directing phone calls and resolving issues when possible.
  4. Processing packages accurately.
  5. Communicating with a variety of individuals and groups via speech, email, and text.
  6. Assisting with campus activities and events as needed.
  7. Monitoring the Shoemaker Center, assuring that all guests are properly checked-in.
  8. Giving campus tours and other Admissions related activities.
  9. Performing administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, organizing, and data processing.
  10. Supporting campus projects as needed.
  11. Other duties as assigned

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Provides administrative support in an office setting, including tasks such as answering phones and emails, responding to customer inquiries, writing communications, and supporting staff with day-to-day operations.
Level Summary
Performs basic tasks and assists with administrative or operational duties under supervision. Roles are entry-level and aimed at providing exposure to workplace environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Limited supervisory responsibilities. May supervise other student workers.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
No budgetary responsibility.
Problem Solving:
Addresses routine, well-defined problems under supervision.
Independence of Action:
Works under close supervision.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicates primarily with supervisor and peers. Collaborates with team members to accomplish tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester. Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines. Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Departments may have specific minimum requirements.

Working Condition/Physical Demands:
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
