Job description

Overview:

Seeking an experienced Collections Specialist with strong communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills to join a fast-paced Accounts Receivable team. This position will manage outstanding customer balances, conduct high-volume collection calls, secure payments, establish payment plans, and partner with the AR team to resolve billing issues. The ideal candidate is persistent yet empathetic, highly organized, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team.


Responsibilities:

    • Make 40+ collection calls per day, prioritizing delinquent and high-risk accounts
    • Review account history, balances, and notes; document all collection activity accurately
    • Contact customers to collect payments, establish payment plans, and resolve outstanding balances
    • Send invoice copies and follow up on accounts 60+ days past due
    • Place meter locks on delinquent accounts and coordinate release once payment is received
    • Contact Auto Pay customers when payments cannot be processed and arrange alternative payment
    • Identify and communicate billing issues, including pricing errors, misapplied payments, tax issues, returns, and duplicate charges
    • Partner with the AR team to resolve disputes and billing issues quickly
    • Prepare and send 10-day demand letters after unsuccessful collection attempts or broken payment commitments
    • Prepare accounts for referral to collection agencies and assist with bad debt write-offs


Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit and collections
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system preferred
    • Comfortable making a high volume of collection calls in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and customer service skills
