Job description

With a high level of integrity, this position will engage, inspire and manage the activities of the Credit, Collections, Billing, and Cash Applications teams and indirectly support the activities of the Trade Spend and Deduction Management teams for the organization.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and enforce sound credit policies – domestic and international
  • Analyze delinquent accounts and report on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution
  • Interact with customers to obtain additional credit information to support credit lines
  • Check for credit viability on requests for extended terms, and evaluate various adjustments or exception documents
  • Maintain bad debt and bad debt recovery records
  • Identify problem accounts and provide regular updates of receivables status to both Sales and Finance Management
  • Work with Division Controller to support bank operations and resolve issues
  • Oversee cash posting operations and transaction integrity
  • Support reconciling monthly cash receipts to GL
  • Support timely customer payment and contract pricing deduction processing and reporting
  • Support billback process management to ensure compliance
  • Work with the Sales organization to ensure the collection of delinquent accounts. Work through third party collection agencies as required
  • Review trends and assist in providing monthly billback production reports to Division Controller as needed
  • Identify accounts requiring collection agency or legal action and coordinate collections with third party contractors
  • Develop processes and procedures for evaluating customer financials and set and change credit lines/limits, as well as credit holds and continuously seek process improvements in the processing of contract pricing and customer payment deductions and cash posting
  • Create a positive environment to develop and motivate team members to optimize their performance and professional growth
  • Be available and receptive to all training made available by the company; continually work to improve leadership skills
  • Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and Director's instruction to maximize personal output
  • Keep own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Finance, Accounting, or related field; or five plus years managing people or credit management and collections or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Office products and ERP system experience
  • Excel knowledge with the ability to create and edit pivot tables, create formulas, and perform VLOOKUP functions
  • Project management background is preferred


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
