Cole Engineering Services (CESI), a By Light company, is recognized as a premier provider of modeling and simulation (M&S) training solutions to the Federal Government and industry. Since 2004, CESI has been at the forefront of developing, maintaining, and integrating simulation-based training, serious gaming, technical services, training and other support in live, virtual, constructive, and gaming (LVCG) domains. CESI also designs, builds and runs infrastructure, platforms, applications and processes that enable cyber training for the integrated multi-domain force. Our vision is to become a worldwide full spectrum LVCG and cyber training/analysis developer, integrator and services provider.
Position Overview
Cole Engineering Services is seeking highly motivated candidates to join a team to help orchestrate, automate, document, and standardize data center designs and implementations. The candidate will:
  • Support the full stack fielding of hardware and software to DoD data centers.
  • Support the design, installation, and operation of a distributed U.S. Army data center.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools to automate the deployment of the overarching system and support DevOps functions for application software.
  • Work as part of a fast moving highly diverse team across multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to perform many duties involving distributed services implementation, network design and implementation within both SDN and Physical environments and installation, configuration and management of ESXi hosts and vCenter across multiple data centers.
  • Must be able to author and maintain scripts in a variety of languages.
  • Must be skilled with Linux system administration and have a functional knowledge of Red Hat enterprise services such as OpenShift, Ansible Tower and Single Sign On.
  • Analyzes real world problems and implements solutions according to corporate guidelines and procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Assures system stability, accessibility, and proper configuration of assigned technical systems and components.
  • Monitor, maintain, install, and support networked virtual and physical machines, software applications, and peripheral equipment in a large-scale environment.
  • Provides professional-level IT, virtual environment, and network support functions, and assists software developers, integration, and test engineers with DevOps functions.
  • Must be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and able to work with/manage a range of engineers holding a diverse set of skills at differing levels of experience.
  • Be sensitive and flexible to the needs and requirements of the customer.
  • Help in the maintenance of a data center environment with information assurance policies and procedures.
  • Apply software centric DevOps functions to a large-scale data center environments.
  • Analyze hardware and software functionality for proper operation and improvement.
  • Identify, locate, resolve and repair problems within scope authority.
  • Document and present performance records and results.
  • Document problems/issues via IT ticketing system/tracking log.
  • Review and update all information security management system process and procedures (data/software).

Required Experience/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science or information technology from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of work experience preferred. Security+ and/or CISSP certifications are required, or must be completed within four months of hire.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement cloud vendor best practices:
    • Our environment is primarily built with Linux, VMware, OpenShift and the rest of the Red Hat suite of enterprise products.
  • Experience with private and hybrid cloud design/operation/monitoring/deployment:
    • VMware vCenter and ESXi, generally maintained at the most current version.
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn VMware Orchestrator to automate deployment and destruction of virtual machine, network, and other virtualized assets in VMware environments.
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn Amazon Web Services.
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn Google Cloud Platform, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) On Prem, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Use scripting languages for automation, administration, data collection and reporting. This job requires the ability to write, test, debug, deploy, and sustain scripts.
  • Ability to configuration manage, version control, and backup various scripts and work products created to execute and maintain the environment.
  • Review and update all lab process and procedures, policies, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Audit and reporting of system and performance logs.
  • Respond professionally, effectively, and efficiently to service requests.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Research and/or implement new technologies.
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills:
    • Professionally convey system-wide performance information routinely via tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.
    • Train others to perform similar design and administrative tasks.
    • Interact with vendors/users/customers and developers to understand needs and operational requirements changes that will impact development and testing activities, examine any relevant change implementation, then report the changes to developers and testers welcoming feedback for future improvements.
  • Operating and maintaining computer and peripheral equipment safely and competently.
  • Solving technical problems involving a variety of integrated software and hardware platforms.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications
  • It is desired that the applicant have a strong understanding of TCP/IP, switching technologies, Routing technologies, IP (IPV4 & IPV6, NAT, ACL's, DNS, DHCP), multicast protocols (PIM SM/DM/SSM,) QoS (AFx, EFx) and Cisco IOS.
  • Knowledge of F5 / BIG IP physical and virtual network devices.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires a Secret security clearance, with an ability to obtain a TS/SCI. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
