Cole Engineering Services (CESI), a By Light company, is recognized as a premier provider of modeling and simulation (M&S) training solutions to the Federal Government and industry. Since 2004, CESI has been at the forefront of developing, maintaining, and integrating simulation-based training, serious gaming, technical services, training and other support in live, virtual, constructive, and gaming (LVCG) domains.  CESI also designs, builds and runs infrastructure, platforms, applications and processes that enable cyber training for the integrated multi-domain force. Our vision is to become a worldwide full spectrum LVCG and cyber training/analysis developer, integrator and services provider.


Cole Engineering Services is seeking a highly motivated candidate to support User Experience and User Interface (UX/UI). This candidate will directly support Agile software development teams by helping to design and transform software capabilities into easy-to-use applications for end-users. 


UI/UX Designer responsibilities include gathering user requirements, designing graphic elements, and building navigation components. Candidates should have experience with design software and wireframe tools. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address end-user needs and help us increase software utilization. Other responsibilities may include: 

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets.
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields.
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like.
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables).
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images. 

  • Minimum one year of proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role or relevant course work
  • Current portfolio of design projects for web/mobile applications 
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Balsamiq, Wireframe.cc, InVision)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software (e.g. Figma, Adobe xD, Photoshop)
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Good time-management skills
  • BSc in Design, Computer Science or relevant field

  • Experience in HTML, CSS, and/or Java-based web design (e.g. React, Angular) 

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status and the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
