To thrive in Coffee Sustainability, you need a background in environmental science, agronomy, or supply chain management, often supported by relevant degrees and experience in sustainable agriculture or fair trade practices. Familiarity with sustainability certification systems such as Rainforest Alliance or Fair Trade, supply chain traceability tools, and data analysis software is valuable. Strong communication, cross-cultural collaboration, and project management skills help professionals bridge gaps between coffee growers, suppliers, and stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for ensuring ethical, environmentally sound, and economically viable coffee production across all stages of the supply chain.

What are some common challenges faced in coffee sustainability roles and how are they addressed?

Professionals in Coffee Sustainability often encounter challenges such as ensuring traceability throughout complex supply chains, addressing climate change impacts on coffee crops, and balancing economic viability for farmers with environmental goals. These issues are typically managed by working closely with producers, certifying bodies, and NGOs to implement best practices, monitor compliance, and adapt strategies as needed. Team members may also coordinate training for farmers, conduct field audits, and facilitate transparency reporting for stakeholders. Collaborating with diverse groups and continuously updating knowledge on global sustainability trends are key aspects of successfully navigating these challenges.

What is a coffee sustainability?

Do you believe coffee can change a day?
Do you like people, teamwork, and doing things the right way?
Do you show up, pitch in, and leave spaces better than you found them?

If yes, keep reading. You might belong at Heine Brothers’ Coffee.

What You’ll Do

As a Barista, you’re not just making drinks and snacks, you’re creating moments people remember and come back for.

You’ll:

  • Deliver the kind of guest experience people tell their friends about

  • Make guests feel better walking out than they did walking in

  • Prepare drinks with care, accuracy, and pride (recipes matter here)

  • Keep the cafe clean, welcoming, and safe for everyone

  • Help teammates out, bring a positive attitude, and give your best effort

  • Handle deliveries and products thoughtfully, because quality matters

  • Speak up with ideas to improve how we do things in the café

What We Care About

Our baristas live our values every shift:

  • Treating everyone with respect and dignity

  • Creating a healthy, positive team environment

  • Making a real impact in our communities and on the planet

  • Helping build a company that’s strong, sustainable, and people-first

What You’ll Need
  • A positive, reliable, team-player energy

  • Comfort talking with guests and teammates

  • Basic math skills (nothing wild, we promise)

  • Problem-solving instincts and common sense

  • The ability to be on your feet, move around, and lift up to 40 lbs occasionally

  • A willingness to learn, grow, and do things with intention

Why Heine Brothers?

Because this is more than a coffee shop.
It’s a place where people matter, values show up in real ways, and great coffee is just the beginning.

If you want a job where:

  • Your effort is noticed

  • Your voice matters

  • Your work has meaning

We’d love to meet you.

Apply today and help us make mornings (and afternoons… and lives) better.
