Job description

Job Description

Responsible for accurate captioning of all charges from the Electronic Medical Record, including any CPT, G-Codes, and ICD-10 codes needed for maximizing revenue. The duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Interact with patients and employees respectfully and consistently with the mission and values of CareSouth Carolina.
  • Coding and Charge Entry: Entering CPT and ICD-10 codes as well as capturing G-Codes and translating any relevant sno-med code into the proper CPT code for services rendered.
  • Review the Electronic Health Record to ensure that all relevant codes and charges have been captured.
  • Protected Health Information Confidentiality: Maintains compliance with all relevant confidentiality standards including CareSouth Carolina procedures, HIPAA, JCAHO accreditation standards, etc.
Skills, Education, and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one year's experience as a certified coder is strongly preferred. FQHC billing/coding experience is preferred but not required.
  • AAPC-certified professional coder is preferred. If not a certified coder, certification is required within 6 months of hire to maintain employment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to work independently and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
