The Billing & Coding Assistant provides excellent support services to the Central Billing Office (CBO) in support of efforts to maximize revenue and maintain compliance while joyfully providing excellent customer service. The Billing & Coding Assistant is specifically responsible for a list of regular duties that optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of Billing and Coding Specialists, as well as other members of the revenue cycle and operational teams.
  • Culture Contributor: Demonstrates engagement with assigned duties in a manner that aligns with CPC's Mission, especially to "serve joyfully."
  • Billing/Coding Support: Accomplishes tasks that support accurate and compliant coding and billing of medical services, following industry best practices and applicable laws and guidelines.
  • Learner & Team-Player: Participates in training, coaching, and mentoring opportunities to promote continuous growth and learning oriented toward the good of the team.
  • Patient Accounts Assistant: Provides excellent customer service to patients, primarily on the phone, in posting payments and assisting with the management of aged accounts receivable and associated collections efforts.
  • Claims Processor: Works pre-bill charge capture validations and errors, prepares and submits claims, assists with resolving post-bill claim errors and denials, and supports continuing compliance with payer requirements.
  • Reporting Support: Assists with monitoring and reporting on revenue cycle performance, as directed.
  • Relationship Builder: Fosters robust relationships with other members of the CBO and operational teams that built on excellence and servant-mindedness.
  • Assists with a variety of special projects; performs related duties as required and other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications for Success:
Education, License/Certification, and Experience Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree and/or certification in medical coding and/or billing, or related field, preferred.

Experience Required: None.
  • Up to two (2) years of experience working in a healthcare billing office preferred.
  • Experience working with electronic health records system is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
