Location: West Chester, OH

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior IT Applications Engineer to join the Information Technology Custom Development Team in our West Chester, OH location but will also consider our Cleveland, OH. This role includes new development and full-stack IT support for web and windows applications in Angular, C#, ASP.Net, JAVA, Azure, and other technologies. Use of AI Tools such as Claude Code, Co-pilot, etc. for design and development. Key responsibilities include project management, problem investigation, analysis, design, programming, testing, and malfunction resolution. The ideal candidate will have strong technical, project management, as well as written and verbal communication skills.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Understand business processes, supporting technologies, key stakeholders' objectives, and overall business goals
  • Collaborate with business partners, IT Management, team members, and vendors by participating in meetings to analyze requirements and define project and technical support needs
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and align closely with their priorities and expectations
  • Proactively gather requirements and develop or modify applications while identifying critical interfaces and addressing impacts during testing and implementation
  • Plan, organize, and deliver technical projects and solutions in accordance with the Change Management process, including generating required documentation and SDLC artifacts
  • Use AI tools for design and development of IT solutions
  • Provide timely and effective feedback on customer issues and requests, offering recommendations to improve system stability and reduce recurring support needs.
  • Provide occasional 24x7 on-call support for enterprise applications and subsystems, including order management, quality assessment, logistics, and supply chain management
  • Drive innovation in partnership with the business and support the development of both online and batch applications.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 apps, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • 7 or more years of experience in Angular, C#, ASP.Net, .Net Core, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Oracle
  • 7 or more years of experience with custom development and SDLC processes
  • Exposure to AI tools such as Claude Code, Co-pilot, or other AI platforms
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years exp in Angular, C#, ASP.Net, .Net Core, Entity Framework
  • 10+ or more years of experience with custom development and SDLC processes
  • Exposure to Project Management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Access, Visio, PowerBI)
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, Co-pilot, or other AI platforms for design and development
  • Steel or other Manufacturing environment knowledge and experience
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow service management software
