CNC Manufacturing Supervisors are responsible for overseeing production in one or more assigned departments. Supervisors are responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of manufacturing employees and for compliance and enforcement of safety & environmental programs and other Company policies and procedures. Supervisors are responsible for the selection and performance management of assigned staff, and to ensure the manufacturing process operates smoothly and efficiently to meet quality and scheduling requirements. Supervisors train new employees and may perform direct labor associated with positions in the assigned department(s).

Essential Functions

  • Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures and holds team accountable to same; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with EHS Manager, maintenance personnel, and others to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
  • Communicates professionally and appropriately to convey instructions, demonstrate procedures, and manage employee performance and behavior
  • Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers
  • Complies with manufacturing processes, quality standards & procedures, and leader instructions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product; conveys clear directions to employees and holds team accountable for actions and work product
  • Trains new employees and mentors skill development during the introductory period for new hires; ensures initial training and periodic re-training for team members is completed as expected
  • Attends production meetings and collaborates with internal stakeholders regarding production scheduling and quality issues
  • Records information in ERP system and updates other metrics as required; communicates regularly via phone, email, and in-person with employees across all levels
  • Verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; performs basic troubleshooting and may perform maintenance or submit work orders as appropriate
  • Maintains a clean, organized, safe work area
  • Utilizes tape measure, mics, calipers, and other gauges to accurately interpret part measurements and visually asses and inspect parts
  • Drives motor vehicle as required
  • Interviews applicants and selects qualified personnel for available roles on the team; complies with regulations and internal processes for recruiting, selection, and recordkeeping
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
  • Operates machines/equipment as needed

Required Education and Work Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Vocational training in a manufacturing/technical field or a Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or other related field of study is advantageous but not required
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in aerospace manufacturing to include direct labor work similar to that completed by the assigned department(s)
  • Industry and technical knowledge representative of the work performed by assigned department(s) is required
  • Comprehension of the AS9100 Quality System is required
  • Supervisory experience is required; "lead" experience and advanced supervisory training may be considered in lieu of direct supervision experience

Other Required Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement programs is preferred
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • ERP experience is required; Infor Visual experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to handle unexpected challenges appropriately
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing employee and company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions
  • Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
  • A valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record (MVR) is required

Physical Demands and Work Environment
To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, stand for long periods to perform job duties
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or knee
  • Accurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards
  • Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices
  • Use hands and fingers to operate hand tools, computers and peripheral equipment
  • Use hands and fingers to precisely inspect parts, operate precision measuring instruments, and/or hand tools and material-handling controls
  • Operates motor vehicle as required

Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:

  • Moderate noise (constantly); Excessive noise (occasionally to frequently), hearing protection required
  • Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear is required
