TITLE: School Certified Nursing Assistant - CNA / Health Services Assistant
REPORTS TO: District Nurse, Building Principal, and/or Assistant Superintendent as assigned
SUPERVISES: N/A
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As established by the classified salary schedule, individual assignment, Board policy, and applicable state and federal law.

JOB DEFINITION OR GOAL:
To support the health, safety, and well-being of students by assisting the District Medical Technician and building administration with school health services, basic first aid, student health monitoring, health-office organization, documentation, and implementation of student health plans as directed. The School CNA / Health Services Assistant works under the supervision and direction of the licensed medical technician and school administration to help ensure that students' health needs are addressed in a timely, confidential, compassionate, and legally compliant manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the District Medical Technician and building administration in providing a safe, orderly, confidential, and student-centered health office environment.
- Provides basic first aid and comfort care to students and staff within the scope of training, district policy, and direction from licensed nursing personnel.
- Observes and reports student symptoms, injuries, health concerns, or changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral condition to the District Medical Technician, building administrator, parent/guardian, or emergency responders as appropriate.
- Supports students with health-related needs during the school day, including assistance with mobility, hygiene-related needs, positioning, feeding support, toileting support, and activities of daily living when such support is included in the student's plan and within the employee's training and authorization.
- Assists with student health screenings, including vision, hearing, height, weight, or other screenings as assigned and trained.
- Helps maintain accurate health-office records, visit logs, parent contacts, screening results, medication documentation, injury reports, and other health-related documentation as directed.

- Assists with emergency medications or emergency health procedures only when trained, authorized, and permitted by law and district procedure. Montana law specifically addresses training and authorized personnel for emergency epinephrine and opioid antagonist use in schools.
- Contacts parents/guardians regarding student illness, injury, medication needs, missing health documentation, or other student health concerns as directed by the District Medical Technician or building administrator.
- Assists with maintaining, organizing, cleaning, and stocking the health office, including first aid supplies, PPE, health forms, screening materials, cot covers, thermometers, sharps containers, and other health-related materials.
- Follows universal precautions, infection-control practices, bloodborne pathogen procedures, communicable-disease protocols, and safe disposal procedures for health-related waste.
