Job Description
Onsemi is seeking a CMP Engineer with 5+ years of semiconductor experience to support and optimize CMP processes in a 300mm high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses on process sustainment, yield improvement, and defect reduction, with increasing ownership of continuous improvement projects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Process Sustainment & Control
  • Support the daily operation of CMP processes

  • Monitor key parameters: Removal rate (RR), WIWNU (within-wafer non-uniformity) , Defectivity (scratches, particles)

  • Maintain process stability within defined control limits, respond to process excursions, and out-of-control conditions

Yield & Defect Improvement
  • Analyze yield loss and defect trends using SPC and fab systems. Identify top contributors: Slurry variation, Pad wear/conditioning, Cleaning effectiveness, Develop and implement corrective actions

Equipment & Process Support
  • Support tool matching, execute recipe changes, assist in troubleshooting tool-related issues, and Tool qualifications, Tool installations, Process characterization

Continuous Improvement (CIP Execution)
  • Execute assigned CIPs tied to KPIs: Yield improvement, Defect reduction, Cost optimization, Equipment Performance Improvement

  • Productivity improvement, Support team skill development, and support larger cross-functional projects

Documentation & Process Control
  • Maintain: Process specs, Control plans (OCAPs), SOPs, and ensure proper documentation of changes and results

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Interface with: Manufacturing/operations Integration teams, Support NPI, and process transfers under guidance

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in: Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years semiconductor experience, with exposure to CMP processes

  • Working knowledge of: CMP fundamentals (slurry, pad, conditioning), Defect mechanisms

  • Experience with: SPC tools and data analysis.
  • Exposure CMP tools (Applied Materials Reflexion LK CMP and Ebara F-REX-300 preferred)

Salary: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is$101,700 to $172,700 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of the internal equity of our current team members.
