s the leader of their market, the Commercial Market President ("CMP") leads a team of Relationship Managers and/or Team Leads in an assigned market. The role is one of a "player/coach" whereby origination of loans, deposits, and fees fall to the CMP and team members. The CMP will have both individual and team goals of loan, deposit and fee generation. The CMP represents the Bank and is visible within the community. The Commercial Market President is responsible for the establishment and achievement of team performance goals and is accountable for their ongoing performance. The CMP is accountable for overall financial performance, budget adherence, FTE staffing model guidelines, creating a client centered approach, policies and procedures. This role will consistently maximize opportunities and develop high performing teams by managing and driving key behaviors centered around retention of clients, achieving sales growth by employing consistent market strategies as well as the CRM and sales and pipeline management system, marketing, compliance and operational strategies with business leaders and retention and development of associates.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Ability to understand the Bank's strategy and business model.
  • Leads, coaches and motivates team to execute against goals by delivering role clarity, implementing appropriate processes and measuring progress toward success.
  • Leads a collaborative effort across disciplines, executing the strategy through team based selling approaches, joint portfolio servicing activities among other tactics.
  • Responsible for activities and development of staff within their market.
  • Identifies opportunities for the Bank across existing client portfolios.
  • Actively participates in business activities within the market to include business development and portfolio service.
  • Responsible for FirstForce (Salesforce) tracking and pipeline management.
  • Relationship building and a focused leadership approach around development of high performing team.
  • Overall coaching and motivation of associates (including but not limited to staff meetings and coaching sessions).
  • Team supervisory responsibilities include talent development, performance reviews, expense report approvals and other people leader activities.
  • Provides sales and soft skill training.
  • Assists team in developing prospects and supporting retention by engaging with clients and internal business partners.
  • Ensures a sense of team urgency to achieve consistent high levels of client retention and securing new business.
  • Recruits, interviews and onboards team members.
  • Achieves a high level of collaboration with all lines of business.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ten (10) years of Commercial Banking experience.
  • Strategic thinking with a very high level of industry and product expertise.
  • Must be skilled in credit analysis, loan structure, negotiation and knowledge of treasury management, wealth management and/or private banking.
  • Excellent management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to strongly and successfully collaborate with lines of business and support partners.
  • High level of financial acumen.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in Capital Markets and/or within the Middle Market space ($75MM+).
  • Experience in Structured Finance, Asset Based Lending (ABL), ESOP, and/or leading syndicated transactions.
  • Credit and sales training, portfolio management, customer service, management and training of employees.
  • Prior experience leading a market and/or team of Commercial Relationship Managers.

Level of Complexity and Scope
  • Strong sales ability and relationship management experience with a proven ability to lead a team to success.
  • Ability to compile, analyze and act upon widely diverse points of view and exceptional skill at gaining agreement on issues of the highest level of importance.

Degree of Independence and Decision-Making
  • Works with limited supervision.
  • Makes day-to-day decisions regarding team management, recommends solutions, etc.
  • Collaborates with senior managers / leaders across the organization.
  • Uses specialized expertise to coach and develop other Relationship Managers.
  • Authority and freedom to act independently and make decisions within broad interpretation of laws, regulations and company policies. Such decisions could have a significant short-term effect on company financial results and business prospects.

Required Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May manage a team of Commercial Relationship Managers including:
    • Providing motivation, direction, evaluation and coordination of Commercial Relationship Manager sales function.
    • Selling and coaching responsibilities, including supervision and performance management measurement analysis.
  • Works with Commercial Regional Market President on planning/budgeting for assigned area.
