Get to Know Your Team:
  • Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.

Responsibilities
The Medical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor (MLS Supervisor) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading a laboratory department. With direct oversight of staff who perform clinical laboratory testing specific to that laboratory department.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science
    • OR
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
  • ASCP or equivalent.
    • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
  • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) or Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
  • Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
  • Clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory.
  • 1+ years' experience with high complexity testing if indicated (required for Blood Bank).
  • Overall knowledge of lab operations including quality control, safety, and problem solving.
  • Shows evidence of leadership skills managing people.
  • Knowledge of department shift operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Preferred Job Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.
  • Blood Bank Experience

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
