Job description

Position Summary:

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our expanding Anatomic Pathology section.This faculty physician will serve as the Vice Chair, in addition to their clinical responsibilities. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at our Froedtert main campus site. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care.

Position Highlights:
Leadership & Administrative Duties
  • Provide overall strategic, academic, and clinical leadership for the Division of Anatomic Pathology.

  • Serve as the operational leader responsible for the performance and direction of Anatomic Pathology services.

  • Partner closely with the Department Chair to develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals and strategic initiatives.

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty, fostering professional growth, academic advancement, and leadership development.

  • Support recruitment, retention, and succession planning efforts within the division.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission).

  • Lead divisional meetings, facilitate communication, and promote a collaborative, collegial culture.

  • Oversee resource allocation, workflow optimization, and operational efficiency within the division.

Clinical Duties
  • Provide oversight of all diagnostic services, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, and autopsy pathology.

  • Directly support and collaborate with section heads to ensure high-quality, efficient clinical operations.

  • Promote subspecialty sign-out and excellence in diagnostic accuracy and turnaround times.

  • Advance innovation in diagnostic techniques, technologies, and pathology practices.

  • Lead and support quality assurance, patient safety, and continuous performance improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain active clinical involvement and contribute to complex case review and multidisciplinary conferences.

Education and Training
  • Support and enhance residency and fellowship training programs.

  • Participate in medical student education and curriculum development.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and academic excellence.

Research
  • Encourage and support faculty research in translational and clinical research.

  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations and grant development.

  • Maintain an active scholarly profile with publications and presentations.

Qualifications:
