Job description

Nurse Manager (RN) - ICU

Location: Reno, NV

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Typically M-F, with shifts from 8 AM to 5 PM or 7 AM to 4 PM. Managers may also be onsite outside of these hours as needed.

Job Description: The Nurse Manager is responsible for planning and leading nursing staff to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care in compliance with regulatory standards. This role functions independently, providing opportunities for developing standards, establishing budgets, and monitoring performance. The Nurse Manager acts as a change agent and transitional leader, inspiring staff and fostering a learning organization environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the 24-hour management of patient care delivery.
  • Interview, hire, train, and evaluate nursing staff to promote professional growth.
  • Maintain positive relationships with physicians, community members, and hospital staff.
  • Design and implement educational programs and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve hospital goals.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • 5+ years of managerial experience in a Level I or II facility.
  • Critical Care/ICU experience is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license prior to hire.
  • Current BLS certification is required; professional certification preferred.
  • Experience as a first assist is necessary if the nurse manager is a graduate of an accredited nursing school and completed an RNFA program.
