Job description

The Market Clinical Informatics Manager (MCIM) will lead the implementation and optimization of clinical applications, projects and initiatives that support providers and clinicians in providing quality patient care in the most efficient manner using technology.  The MCIM will combine their clinical knowledge and informatics expertise to promote the adoption and optimization of the electronic medical record (EMR).  The MCIM will operationalize informatics changes that support policy, procedure and clinical standards. 

  • Required: Current RN license
  • Required:  Bachelor's degree in nursing. Exceptions to education requirements may be approved by Regional Clinical Informatics Director
  • Must serve as a model of credibility, professionalism, and customer service 
  • Regarded as a highly visible and motivated to perform job duties as assigned
  • Required:  5 years of experience in clinical nursing, with 2 years of experience in clinical informatics
  • Preferred: certification in nursing informatics with ANCC
  • Ability to develop, maintain and collaborate with multi-disciplinary leaders
  • Ability to problem-solving and resolve conflict  
  • Understands clinical workflow and has the skill set to integrate technology into clinical practice
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills required 
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office products

The MCIM is the subject matter expert for the EMR and will be responsible for select participation on work teams to design, build and test changes to the EMR.  The MCIM is responsible for communicating EMR changes to physicians, customizing content to support clinical workflow and educating nursing and department leaders on EMR changes.  The MCIM will regularly perform hospital rounds to provide informatics service and support to physicians and clinicians.  

The MCIM will align with information systems (IS) and clinical operations to operationalize changes that improve clinical workflow associated with the EMR.  The MCIM will align with the Market CDL, collaborate with the MSDL, nursing and key department leaders to promote the adoption of clinical applications and meet clinical and IS performance metrics through the effective use of data and reporting.  
The MCIM is accountable for ensuring the Market EMR Coach is performing job duties as assigned. The MCIIM collaborates with the MDI to improve physician and clinician satisfaction with the EMR, promote "voice of the customer" and improve IS service and support. 

The MCIM will report to the Clinical Informatics Director.
