Description & Requirements
The Private Client team helps high-net-worth individuals and multigenerational families manage financial complexity with confidence. Through a holistic approach that integrates wealth management, tax planning, and family office services, Forvis Mazars delivers personalized strategies aligned with each client's goals-ensuring peace of mind and long-term financial well-being.
This role is a core component of the firm's Wealth Strategy platform, operating at the intersection of advanced estate and family enterprise planning. The Wealth Strategist serves as an advisor on the most complex Private client engagements, partnering with Tax, Wealth Advisory, and other firm service lines to deliver integrated solutions for ultra-high net worth (UHNW) individuals, multigenerational families and privately held business owners.
What You Will Do:
  • You will work in conjunction with existing advisors and external advisors to develop, recommend and implement complex tax and estate plans for clients
  • Translate complex tax, estate, and legacy planning concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for clients, advisors, and relationship partners
  • Lead and participate in multi-advisor and multi-generational client meetings involving family members, attorneys, trustees, and other external advisors
  • Be an externally recognized thought leader in the Private Client area and ideally would present at high-level, impact conferences, produce written materials, etc.
  • Consulting with clients and their attorneys on the benefits of estate planning and identifying appropriate plans for estate taxes utilizing knowledge of inheritance, gift, income, and estate taxes
  • Advise families on governance, legacy planning, and long-term stewardship considerations as part of holistic wealth strategies
  • Collaborating with other planning resources on specific subject matters and partners in the acquisition of new clients
  • Conducting and reviewing research, as appropriate, and developing tax, estate, and other analyses and plans. Making generally accepted recommendations to the team and clients.
  • Providing direction to and overseeing Private Client personnel in the development of work product
  • Maintaining current in-depth knowledge of a full range of estate planning-oriented services (e.g., personal trusts, living trusts, wills, estate and tax planning)
  • Maintaining periodic contact with clients in coordination with the relationship partner
  • Deepening existing relationships by working with integrated Private Client teams
  • Retaining, expanding, and deepening existing relationships in collaboration with relationship partners
  • Identifying solutions and services as sales opportunities to enhance existing client relationships
  • Developing new client relationships through networking, prospecting, and referrals by being actively involved in networking at key organizations
  • Assessing and effectively managing all the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support Enterprise Risk
  • Having knowledge, insight, and knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; the ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Act as a representative of the Wealth Strategy platform internally and externally, modeling best practices in collaboration, judgment, and client leadership

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • CPA license, CTFA, LLM, or JD
  • Minimum of 9+ years of professional client-facing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in law, tax services and consulting, financial services, wealth management, or financial planning
  • Knowledge of fiduciary capabilities and services (e.g., personal trusts, living trusts, wills, investment management, custody, financial consulting, estate, and tax planning), including fee structures and documentation
  • Regular travel is required for this role, including in-person client meetings, family engagements, internal planning sessions, and advisor collaboration
  • Travel may include multi-day engagements and attendance at conferences, client events, or firm initiatives based on business and client needs
  • A willingness and ability to travel is essential to support relationship development, complex planning discussions, and client trust-building

Illinois Wage Transparency
Pursuant to Illinois' Equal Pay Act, the salary range displayed is for the Illinois market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek. Benefits are eligibility-based and could include group health plan benefits, 401(K), bonuses, profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave.
