A Client Partner in sales is a professional responsible for managing and nurturing long-term relationships with key clients. They act as the main point of contact between the client and the company, ensuring client satisfaction, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth. Client Partners typically develop strategic account plans, coordinate with internal teams to deliver solutions, and work to understand their clients' business needs and objectives. Their role is crucial in building trust, maintaining client loyalty, and expanding business within existing accounts.

How does a client partner sales professional typically collaborate with internal teams to deliver solutions for clients?

Client Partner Sales professionals frequently act as a bridge between clients and internal teams such as product, marketing, and customer success. They coordinate closely with these departments to ensure client needs are accurately understood and addressed, often participating in strategy meetings, sharing client feedback, and guiding project deliverables. Effective collaboration is essential for delivering tailored solutions, resolving issues promptly, and ultimately driving client satisfaction and retention. This cross-functional teamwork not only helps achieve sales goals but also fosters long-term partnerships with clients.

Job description

Client Partner
Cordova

Cordova is a custom software development, executive, and IT staffing firm based in Omaha, NE. We're an office-first culture of entrepreneurs looking for like-minded go-getters who don't wait for opportunity to come to them.

Due to our growth goals, we're adding a Client Partner to our team. This is a hunter role first: your primary job is to find and secure new client relationships before they come looking for you, then grow and protect them over time. As a member of the Client Partner team, you'll represent Cordova to clients seeking the best talent in the market — the core focus is customer acquisition, engagement, and development, along with fostering client relationships that result in successful placements.

This role is ideal for a sales professional who appreciates the impact their efforts have on the lives of others and their own career — someone who wants to shape the future of the organization and our industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own a high volume of daily outbound cold calls and proactive prospecting to build a pipeline of new client relationships ahead of quota.
  • Utilize prospecting skills including networking with business partners and contacts, cold-calling, industry research, social media, and technology tools to generate new business.
  • Treat objection handling and follow-up persistence as core to the role, not a fallback — the best Client Partners here pick up the phone first.
  • Uncover and develop technology leader relationships within your account portfolio while continuing to hunt for new business.
  • Use client and prospect feedback to develop strategies that match customer needs to talent demands.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, account status reports, and actionable plans that foster account growth and revenue potential.
  • Negotiate fee structures and contract terms directly with clients, balancing margin protection with competitive positioning.
  • Draft, review, and interpret staffing and services contracts — including MSAs, SOWs, and rate agreements — in partnership with legal and operations as needed.
  • Participate in contract negotiations.
  • Develop expertise in key areas of technology.
  • Lead sophisticated negotiations to achieve a "win-win" result.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 2 years of industry experience.
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Exceptional business acumen and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and foster trusted advisor relationships with customers and account prospects.
  • Drive and ambition to be successful — the willingness to make the call others won't.
  • Effective negotiation techniques, including fee and rate negotiation.
  • Working knowledge of staffing contract structures — MSAs, SOWs, rate cards — and comfort negotiating terms directly with clients.
  • Awareness of customer buying signals and ability to match the sales process to the prospect's buying process.
  • Search firm sales experience with a track record of success.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
