About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Engineering Client Manager in our Houston or Katy, Texas office. This position oversees the work of others and assigns work to a team of employees within the Water/Wastewater Department. This includes management of both small projects and large complex projects involving special skills and multi-disciplinary teams. Develops strong relationships with clients and performs the role of client manager. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and impact company's performance and activity. Supervises and coordinates the activities within the department in support of corporate policies, goals, and objectives. Represents the company in the industry and sets an example for staff.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Attend utility district meetings, sometimes outside of business hours.
  • Prepare and/or monitor project scopes, budgets, schedules to ensure an economical timely delivery of projects.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure projects are in line with client expectations.
  • Manage certain projects to deliver projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Represent the company in client and agency meetings to resolve questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • Review draft agreements. Provide input and approval for scope and fee.
  • Make decisions independently and take responsibility for project management and project engineering solutions.
  • Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas with peers and management team.
  • Prepare engineering project proposals and statement of qualifications in coordination with the business development and marketing departments.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training opportunities for staff.

Education/Certification Requirements

  • An ABET accredited B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or applicable alternate engineering degree.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or can acquire registration through reciprocity.

Must-haves, what you will bring

  • 5 or more years of related experience in client management, project management, or design.
  • Experience with municipal utility district and/or experience with other local municipalities.
  • Working knowledge of TCEQ, City of Houston, and County regulations.
  • Working knowledge of water and wastewater systems.
  • Broad knowledge of principles of engineering.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned office service areas (own transportation).
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Strong verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Compensation The pay range for this role is $120,000-$165,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
