Mark Thomas is adding a Project Manager to our Structures division! The Project Manager manages all aspects of multiple projects using company project controls, available staff, and sub-consultant resources. The Project Manager monitors the budgetary health of the projects and develops their own client base through business development activities and a higher level of client care, developing long-standing, positive client relationships. The supervisory responsibilities include the training, development, and mentoring of direct reports, and assigned staff to responsible projects. This role maintains a broad view of the project and communicates this view through direct, ongoing communication with relevant staff, clients, and sub-consultants. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides project delivery oversight and accountability for assigned projects
  • Effectively communicates (verbal and written) technical approach to projects and successful proposal strategies to staff, clients, and sub-consultants
  • Performs the necessary functions and tasks to manage direct reports effectively
  • Achieves the established targets for financial success & utilization
  • Performs quality control measures and audits quality control measures for project work
  • Provides ongoing training & support of internal training programs
  • Partners with the region's Business Development Manager to identify leads to chase and secure new or renewed project work
  • Creates a network of personal business contacts for potential opportunities
  • Actively engages in community/industry professional organizations
  • Promotes the Mark Thomas vision and goals internally and externally
  • Continuously demonstrates depth & knowledge in specific engineering discipline/services
  • Engages and participates in recruiting and retention activities
  • Promotes and supports a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Performs project and administrative work as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8 - 10+ years progressively responsible experience
  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering, concentration in structures strongly preferred, but not required, MS in Civil or Structural Engineering a plus
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license a plus
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project
  • Knowledge of overall project deliverable processes (PSR, PAED, PS&E)
  • Knowledge of effective business development practices
  • Competent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of project financials and metrics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management practices
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and delegate work assignments
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
  • Demonstrated proficiency knowledge of general engineering principals, statics, dynamics of structures and general engineering design
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

The offered base rate of compensation (California locations only) is based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
