Clerical Assistant 2

Become a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of State, State Board of Nursing and support a busy and meaningful workplace. This is an opportunity to help callers receive clear answers and proper direction. Your efforts will help keep the Board's services organized and responsive. Each day brings new chances to provide helpful support to the public.

This position supports the Board of Nursing by handling a large volume of telephone inquiries and providing essential clerical assistance. It plays an important role in keeping communication clear and organized. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Call Handling: Answer incoming calls and respond to questions related to Board of Nursing processes
  • Status Review: Check the processing system to determine application status when handling calls
  • Call Triage: Direct callers to the correct area for additional assistance
  • Staff Communication: Notify staff of inquiries and document calls in the processing system
  • Public Interaction: Provide general information and attach documents to applications as directed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Parking is provided in a secure garage.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
