Job description

THE POSITION As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Environmental Protection, you play an important role in supporting the work that protects Pennsylvania's environment. This position lets you assist two key programs by keeping information organized and helping staff stay on track. You take part in daily operations that ensure documents, calls, and communications move smoothly through the office.

This role offers a steady and rewarding way to contribute to a mission-focused agency. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position provides clerical support to both the Radiation Protection Program and the Central Files unit, helping keep documents, communication, and records organized and accurate. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties: Phone Support: Screen and route calls to appropriate program staff Document Processing: Prepare, proofread, and organize correspondence and files for staff use Record Maintenance: Maintain and update files, binders, manuals, and electronic folders Data Updates: Input and maintain accurate information across department data systems Meeting Assistance: Schedule meetings, prepare materials, and support training activities Front Desk Coverage: Perform reception duties and help route citizen inquiries Interested in learning more.

Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time, 2 days a week. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Graduation from high school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
