Job description

It's more than a job

As a Customs Clearance Manager at Kuehne+Nagel, your job is to optimise logistics to keep our global supply chains running smoothly. But the impact of your work goes beyond that. In fact, your expertise makes both special and ordinary moments possible for people around the world. For example, your work could ensure that a global product launch happens on time-such as ethically sourced beauty and bath products stocked at local stores for your loved one's valued self-care routine. It's import and export work, but it's also so much more than we imagine.

As Customs Clearance Manager you will oversee importcompliance, documentation, and regulatory adherence to ensure smooth, legal, and timely cargo movement. This includes managing customs team, classifying tariffs, ensuring compliance with local/international laws, and optimizing brokerage processes to reduce delays.

How you create impact
  • Ensure all shipments comply with local and international customs regulations (e.g., INCOTERMS, HTS codes) to avoid penalties
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
  • Lead the customs team to process entries efficiently, manage brokerage operations for air/ocean freight, and handle customs exceptions
  • Act as the primary contact with customs authorities, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to resolve clearance issues
  • Implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and manage duty/tax payments
  • Train staff on compliance updates and conduct audits on entries to ensure adherence to regulations
What we would like you to bring
  • A Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related logistics field
  • 4+ years of experience in customs brokerage in freight forwarding industry, with at least 2-3 years in a management or supervisory capacity
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation would be an advantage
  • Expertise in HTS classification, U.S. Customs regulations, and trade compliance
  • Strong analytical thinking, leadership ability, and proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle/CargoWise)
  • Strong ability to manage teams and work under tight deadlines
