Job Description:
Role will be a more physical presence at the sites to coordinate compliance and maintenance activities.
Will be responsible for covering lower half of MI's lower peninsula (Grand Rapids, Bay City, Lansing areas). Can expect to visit one site per day (not multiple sites within 1 day) and travel will be mostly done during the day.
Field technician/analyst to oversee environmental compliance and construction at coal combustion residuals (CCR) landfills in the state of MI. Landfills are located near Muskegon, Holland, Bay City, and Monroe, MI.
This position will oversee and ensure our contracted entities are completing compliance obligations related to maintenance, monitoring, inspections, surveying, and other engineering support.
Will be expected to develop and maintain records, and support report development.
At active landfills, oversight of closure work and new cell construction may be required, and reporting progress to the Landfill Program Manager.
Assist in quality assurance by auditing the activities of our 3rd party Engineer as they complete inspections, surveying, sampling, testing, etc. and reporting in a format acceptable to the agency having jurisdiction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma required
An Associate degree in a Technical/Construction field is a plus.
Prefer 3 - 5 years relevant experience in a similar role.
A fundamental and working knowledge of the State of Michigan Part 115 landfill regulations as well as general landfill operation, construction, and maintenance is required; and a general understanding of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) CCR rules (2015 & 2024) is preferred.
Candidate must be able to read and interpret civil and environmental drawings and related construction documents.
Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
Candidate must be able to prioritize and deal with multiple activities on a daily basis.
