What is a Class Action Attorney job?

A Class Action Attorney is a lawyer who represents a group of individuals collectively in a legal claim against a defendant, typically a corporation or large entity. These cases involve individuals who have suffered similar harm, such as defective products, false advertising, or employment violations. The attorney handles all aspects of the case, including filing motions, gathering evidence, negotiating settlements, and representing the class in court. Their goal is to secure fair compensation or corrective action for the affected group.

What are some common challenges faced by Class Action Attorneys in their daily work?

Class Action Attorneys often manage cases that involve a large number of plaintiffs, extensive documentation, and complex legal procedures, which can make organization and case management challenging. Coordinating communication among diverse stakeholders, ensuring thorough discovery, and meeting court-mandated deadlines are frequent demands of the role. Additionally, attorneys must effectively strategize against opposing counsel who often represent well-resourced corporate defendants. Being able to work efficiently within a collaborative legal team and maintain meticulous attention to detail can help overcome these challenges and lead to successful outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Class Action Attorney position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Class Action Attorney, you need strong litigation skills, comprehensive knowledge of class action procedures, and a Juris Doctor (JD) with bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction. Experience with legal research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis, knowledge of discovery management platforms, and, in some cases, class action-specific certifications are valuable. Standout professionals excel in negotiation, attention to detail, and effective communication with both individual clients and large groups. These skills are crucial for successfully managing complex cases involving numerous plaintiffs, ensuring compliance, and achieving favorable outcomes for the represented class.

Class Action Attorney โ€” Wage and Hour
USA Employment Lawyers | Fort Lauderdale, Florida | In-Office

USA Employment Lawyers is a highly respected plaintiff-side wage and hour firm with an active nationwide docket. We file several class and collective actions each month and represent thousands of workers in wage and hour class and collective claims.
We are hiring a proven class action attorney to take ownership of significant litigation and drive cases from filing to resolution. This is a senior role for a high-output attorney who moves with urgency, exercises strong judgment, and wants real autonomy, responsibility, and upside in a growing firm.
Compensation

This role offers a $170,000 base salary, plus a performance-based, no-cap bonus structure tied to production, results, and value created for the firm.ย

We are looking for an attorney who is motivated to win, produce, and earn at a high level.
The Role

You will be trusted to lead and advance plaintiff-side wage and hour class and collective actions with urgency, precision, and accountability to achieve the best possible results.
Responsibilities include:
  • Lead plaintiff-side wage and hour class and collective litigation from pre-suit investigation through resolution, including certification strategy, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and settlement/trial
  • Develop and execute fast-paced litigation strategies that create leverage and move cases toward strong outcomes
  • Draft complaints, motions, discovery, mediation briefs, and other substantive filings for class and collective action cases
  • Analyze payroll, time, and damages records to build, quantify, and position cases
  • Conduct effective depositions that create leverage for mediation and settlement
  • Own deadlines, workstreams, and case progress
  • Communicate with clients in a way that builds confidence, trust, and engagement
  • Help recover unpaid wages for thousands of workers while building meaningful value for the firm
What Weโ€™re Looking For

We are looking for a proven, fast-moving attorney with strong plaintiff-side litigation instincts and the ability to produce excellent work independently.

The ideal candidate has:
  • 7+ years of litigation experience, with a demonstrated track record in class actions, collective actions, wage and hour litigation, or complex multi-party litigation
  • Outstanding, meticulous legal writing skills and the ability to produce clean, strategic work product independently
  • Considerable experience litigating in federal court, including class certification and conditional certification motions
  • High agency, strong ownership, and a strong desire to move cases forward
  • Excellent professional judgment and the ability to make smart, consequential decisions under uncertainty
  • A practical, strategic, outcome-focused approach to litigation
  • Experience creating and executing litigation plans that position cases for strong settlements
  • Florida Bar membership, or willingness to sit for the Florida Bar Exam
  • Admission in good standing in multiple jurisdictions strongly preferred
The Kind of Lawyer Who Will Thrive Here

This role is for an attorney who is energized by responsibility, urgency, and results.
You will thrive here if:
  • You take ownership and accountability
  • You prioritize, move fast, and follow through
  • You are aggressive, strategic, and practical
  • You can manage a significant litigation caseload
  • You know how to create leverage and push cases forward
  • You care about winning, producing, and improving outcomes for clients
  • You want your compensation to reflect your performance and impact
Why This Opportunity Is Different

This is not a narrow litigation role. You will have real autonomy, meaningful responsibility, and real influence over significant cases.

You will work on litigation that affects thousands of workers. For the right attorney, this is an opportunity to build something significant inside a growing plaintiff-side firm while being rewarded for valuable performance.
