Job description

IAT has an opening for a Claims Intern in our Raleigh, North Carolina location for the summer of 2027. This internship will allow you to work within our Claims Department and will provide you with daily exposure to top level executives in the field. Responsibilities range from shadowing subject matter experts to performing special projects as needed.
The internship is scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2027 and conclude on July 30th, 2027. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
Responsibilities:
  • Participating in a training program across multiple Claims functions.
  • Learning fundamental insurance principles and claims handling procedures.
  • Developing a basic understanding of claim operations.
  • Participating in job shadowing sessions and other developmental exercises.
  • Completing assigned projects, presentations and activities designed to reinforce learning and professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Rising undergraduate Junior, or Senior majoring in Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology, or related field of study
  • Must be able to work out of our Raleigh office without housing assistance or relocation assistance from IAT Insurance Group.
  • Must be able to complete the entirety of the 10-week internship program (May 24th, 2027 to July 30th, 2027)
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Problem Solver.
  • Strong Communication skills both with Technical and non-technical resources.
  • Willingness to learn, including adoption of AI tools and technologies that support Claims operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Above average computer skills.
  • To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
