Civil Project Manager

Description

The Civil Engineer serves as a lead engineering professional responsible for overseeing land development projects from initial concept through final delivery. This individual plays a critical role in managing both the technical execution and client relationships associated with a variety of site development projects.

Responsibilities include leading project planning efforts, developing project scopes, and guiding multidisciplinary teams through design, permitting, and construction phases. The Project Director will oversee the preparation of construction plans, coordinate with internal design staff and external stakeholders, and ensure compliance with applicable municipal and regulatory requirements.

This role also acts as the primary point of contact for clients, supporting ongoing communication, managing expectations, and ensuring successful project outcomes. The individual will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, establishing priorities, and maintaining schedules and budgets.

The position requires a strong technical foundation in civil engineering design, particularly within land development, as well as the ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to overall team success. The Project Director will play a key role in delivering high quality engineering solutions while maintaining strong client partnerships.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field

EIT (FE Taken), Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan is a plus

2-3 plus years of experience in land development civil engineering projects, including design and project management responsibilities

Demonstrated experience leading projects and supervising engineering or design staff

Strong knowledge of site development, grading, drainage, and utility design

Experience working with municipal agencies and navigating permitting and regulatory approvals

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite required

Experience with SurvCAD or HEC RAS is a plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelby, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
