Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II with pediatric experience for a night shift position at an academic medical center, requiring RRT certification and at least 2 years of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience.

Details
  • Pediatric Respiratory Care Services unit within a large academic medical center
  • Pediatric and neonatal patient population, including NICU and PICU settings
  • Procedures include airway management, mechanical ventilation, aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care, endotracheal intubations/extubations, pulmonary function testing, and ECMO management
  • May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per air care protocol
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Night shift: 7:00pm – 7:00am, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
  • On-call required approximately 1 weekend per 6 weeks
  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current RRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • At least one of the following certifications depending on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or Advanced Practice Certificate to administer moderate sedation in Bronchoscopy Lab
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting
  • Experience working in NICU and PICU settings
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • License required if applicable
Additional Information
  • Administer advanced respiratory care including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, tracheostomy care, endotracheal intubations/extubations, and pulmonary function testing
  • May manage extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) for cardiac and respiratory support
  • May perform advanced air care procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring
  • Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a clinical resource to other staff
  • Maintains and continuously improves clinical knowledge and skills
  • All certifications must be kept current as required by the certifying body
  • Background check and drug screen required prior to start; candidates should be prepared to report to the lab for drug screening promptly upon commitment
