Position Information
Job Title Circulation Coordinator Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Library Director, the Circulation Coordinator is responsible for the daily leadership and management of the Circulation Department, including Course Reserves and related public service operations. This position ensures efficient circulation services, high-quality customer service, and effective implementation of circulation policies and procedures. The Circulation Coordinator oversees all public service functions of the circulating collections, including material lending and return, circulation reporting, copier operations, student print management accounts, and coordination of the TexShare Card program. This role also ensures effective stacks maintenance and supports physical collection accessibility. The position requires strong leadership, technical proficiency with library systems, and a commitment to service excellence in a fast-paced academic library environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Supervise staff and student workers. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Supervise- Supervise and maintain excellent customer service standards at the Circulation Desk. Communicate with circulation staff and supervisors to ensure service continuity. Keep the supervisor informed of problem patrons, circulation issues, and operational concerns, and contribute ideas for service improvement. | Daily 40%
Systems- Collaborate with the Systems Librarian to maintain library management systems. Ensure efficient system performance and high-quality service delivery by effectively leveraging library technologies. | Daily 20%
Reports- Update and maintain patron records. Maintain circulation statistics and reports on weekly and monthly schedules. Oversee the print management accounts and serve as a liaison with the IT department. | Daily 20%
Training- Train circulation staff and student workers on library systems, policies, and procedures. Provide instruction for circulation desk operations and equipment use, including copiers, ID printer, and related services. Ensure consistent onboarding and ongoing training to support service quality. | Daily 10%
Outreach- Support the circulation of library materials and outreach efforts across campus and the community. Communicate with departmental liaisons and community users to promote access to library services. Participate in special projects, continuing education, and other duties as assigned. | Daily 10%
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Understanding of the role and purpose of an academic library within a university environment
