Department: Matchhead Coffee

Reports to: Cafe Manager

Work schedule: Varies


Job Summary:

The Barista is responsible for fostering the culture of Matchhead through excellent customer service, producing excellent products, product knowledge, and a strong work ethic. The barista will make the daily functioning of Matchhead possible by creating drinks, interacting with customers in a positive way, opening/closing the shop, cleaning, and performing daily POS duties. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ that results in a life lived in obedience to the will of God as described in the Word of God, evident by spiritual fruit and the desire to grow in the Lord
  • Support the works of the ministry of Radiant Church
  • Beliefs consistent with Radiant Church’s Statement of Faith
  • Demonstrate a commitment to handling conflict Biblically, following principles in Matthew 18


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creating Drinks
    • Drink creation entails re-creating menu products for customer orders. In order to do this, the barista will need to be skilled in dialing-in and tasting espresso, steaming milk, latte art, creating pour overs, multi-tasking multiple orders, and serving drink products to customers
  • Customer Service
    • The barista will influence the culture of Matchhead by providing excellent “above and beyond” customer service. This includes interacting in a positive way with guests, seeing and fulfilling guest needs, and creating an environment that encourages guest regularity. In addition, baristas must be trained to answer customer questions regarding Radiant/Match Head and exemplify the love of Jesus through excellence in their attitude and work.
  • Opening & Closing Duties
    • Includes (but is not limited to) being a key holder at Matchhead, opening the shop and completing all required opening duties (counting the drawer, dialing in espresso, preparing batch coffee, preparing the bar), and closing the shop (completing closing cleaning list, cleaning the espresso machine, counting the drawer, thoroughly cleaning the bar).
  • Cleaning & POS Duties
    • Includes (but is not limited to) keeping the shop in excellent condition by performing thorough daily cleaning (sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, clearing and cleaning tables, keeping the bar clean, cleaning grinders/espresso machines, and doing dishes). POS duties include counting the drawer at opening and closing, competence in Square and its functions, and competent cash handling.
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Coffee experience preferred (but not required)
