Job description

I. Job Summary
As a member of the WM People organization, the Sr. HR Advisor is tasked with providing tactical, responsive HR support to individual contributors in assigned business units and/or functions (Milwaukee and Madison metro areas). The position serves as the first point of contact and trusted advisor for employee relations issues and human resources policies and processes.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides reliable and timely coaching and counseling to employees on issues to ensure consistent, transparent application of policies, procedures, and employments laws.
  • Identifies, communicates, and resolves complex employee relations issues balancing employee advocacy with stewardship of company policies and employment laws.
  • Serves as the local People point of contact supporting/delivering internal processes including Performance Management, New Hire Orientation and Exit interviews.
  • Conducts training on company policy, programs, and other issues as they arise.
  • Partners and participates with local team(s) on recruitment outreach efforts.
  • Serves as an active member of People related project teams as assigned.
  • Serves as a mentor to others within the People department by providing technical advice and guidance.
  • Assists the People Manager in the development and maintenance of processes and policies as well as new initiatives.
  • Apprise and escalates potential legal, risk, safety, etc. concerns to the People Manager.


III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 4 years of relevant work experience in a People Advisor or Generalist capacity (in addition to education requirements)
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) PHR or
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) SHRM-CP
  • Willingness and ability for daytime travel within the supported market areas


B. Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) CHRP Certification
  • Union experience is a plus

Pay: The expected salary range for this onsite position is $90,000 - $100,000 per year. This represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidateโ€™s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
