Employees at a Christian Village senior living community often provide a blend of care, hospitality, and spiritual support to residents. Typical responsibilities may include assisting with daily living activities, organizing social and faith-based events, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. One common challenge is addressing the diverse emotional and spiritual needs of residents while maintaining a compassionate, patient-centered approach. Teamwork and communication are essential, as staff frequently coordinate with families, medical staff, and ministry leaders to ensure holistic well-being for residents.

What is a Christian Village?

A Christian Village typically refers to a residential community or facility that is designed to serve the needs of Christian individuals, often seniors, in a faith-based environment. These villages may offer housing, healthcare, and recreational activities that align with Christian values and beliefs. Residents benefit from opportunities for worship, fellowship, and spiritual support, creating a strong sense of community. Services can range from independent living to assisted living and nursing care. The goal is to provide a nurturing environment where faith is integrated into daily life.

Job description

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Sayre Christian Village | Lexington, Kentucky

Lead the Financial Future of a Mission-Driven Organization

Sayre Christian Village (SCV) is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a financial leader who wants to make a lasting impact while helping guide one of Central Kentucky's premier nonprofit senior living organizations through an exciting period of growth and transformation.

Serving older adults for more than 40 years, Sayre Christian Village is a faith-based Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offering skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, and affordable housing. We are committed to providing exceptional care while honoring the dignity and worth of every resident we serve.

As our next CFO, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of the organization. In addition to leading all aspects of finance and accounting, you will help guide two major strategic capital projects that will transform our campus for generations to come. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence organizational strategy, partner closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, and help write the next chapter in Sayre Christian Village's history.

What You'll Do

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Lead all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, treasury management, reimbursement, purchasing, and audit functions.
  • Develop long-range financial strategies that support organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Provide executive financial leadership for major construction, renovation, financing, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Present financial information, recommendations, and strategic analyses to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, Medicare, Medicaid, HUD, and other applicable regulations.
  • Develop, mentor, and support a high-performing finance team.
  • Partner with leaders throughout the organization to improve operational performance and financial outcomes.
  • Remain actively involved in the day-to-day work of the Finance Department while maintaining a strategic perspective.

Who You Are

We're looking for more than an accomplished financial executive—we're looking for a leader who embraces our mission and values.

Our ideal candidate is:

  • A strategic thinker who enjoys solving complex financial challenges.
  • A collaborative leader who builds strong relationships across departments.
  • A visible, approachable leader who enjoys being part of campus life and engaging with residents, employees, and community partners.
  • A servant leader who leads with humility, integrity, and accountability.
  • A hands-on professional who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and work alongside their team.
  • An excellent communicator who can confidently present financial information to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • Healthcare finance experience required.
  • Senior living, long-term care, or CCRC experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, Medicare, Medicaid, HUD, budgeting, financial planning, audits, and strategic financial management preferred.
  • Experience with capital projects, financing, or construction planning is highly desirable.

Why Sayre Christian Village?

At Sayre Christian Village, you'll find more than a job—you'll find a mission.

You'll join an organization where leadership is expected to be visible, collaborative, and engaged. We believe our strongest leaders are those who build relationships, support one another, and work together to serve our residents with excellence.

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a respected nonprofit organization while leading meaningful projects that will have a lasting impact on the seniors and families we serve.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive executive compensation package commensurate with experience, including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Performance incentive opportunity
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Professional development opportunities
  • A supportive, mission-driven culture dedicated to serving older adults

If you're looking for an opportunity to combine financial leadership with meaningful purpose—and to make a lasting difference in the lives of others—we encourage you to apply.
