CLASSIFICATION: Part-time (30 weeks - 20 hours per week), Hourly
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director
DEPT: Food Service
LOCATION: Corum Student Union
SUMMARY
The Food Service Assistant serves in a multi-faceted position throughout the kitchen. Duties will be assigned by supervisor based on operational needs. This position requires cross-training, being responsible and possessing time management skills. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Learns and performs various duties throughout the kitchen including but not limited to food preparation, front of the house assistance, checker stand coverage, dining room cleaning, and dish room assistance.
  • Ensures that assigned workstation is clean, sanitary, and well organized.
  • Interacts with guests & customers at meals with professionalism, service and grace, upholding the customer service expectations of Cornerstone University.
  • Provides customer feedback to the Food Service Director.
  • Train and develop student workers
  • Maintain set standard of quality and safety
  • Ability to handle pressure, multi-tasking, and some weekend hours.
  • All Cornerstone University employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. As such all employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.?
  • Other duties may be assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years food service experience
  • Food Handler Certification, preferred
  • Food Allergy Certification, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and mathematical skills

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
  • A theology that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University core commitments evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university's doctrinal statement, "The Cornerstone Confession."
