Job description

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.
Responsibilities:
  • Overall day-to-day operation of the Rhoden Field Laboratory (RFL)
  • Livestock care and management
  • Facility/equipment maintenance and repair
  • Supervise student employees
  • Teaching horses and horsemanship lab
  • Assisting faculty with labs
  • Provide farm oversight support to supervised research projects
  • Pasture and cropland management
  • Sponsor ACU Riding Club

Expectations:
  • Uphold and support the Christian mission and values of Abilene Christian University
  • Foster a collaborative and engaging learning environment
  • Contribute to program development and growth within the department
  • Support departmental activities and promotions with RFL activities and service

Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate degree in Farm or Ranch Management, Animal Science, or a closely related field (required)
  • Experience working with livestock and horses
  • Ability to teach undergraduate lab for Horses and Horsemanship course.
  • Ability to perform ongoing maintenance and repairs for the facility and equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate with faculty to provide classroom needs for activities at the Rhoden Field Lab.
  • Commitment to integrating faith and learning in alignment with the mission of Abilene Christian University
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collegial, student-centered approach

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching and training experience for horses and horsemanship
  • Work experience on a farm or ranch
  • Understanding of diverse ranch and farm operations
