Arden Wood seeks an inspired, metaphysically based CEO to provide strategic and operational leadership and ensure the continued growth, vitality, and healing mission of the organization.

Position Summary

Position Summary Reporting to the Arden Wood Board of Trustees, the CEO has overall responsibility for the spiritual, strategic, and operational leadership of the facility. The CEO serves as steward of the mission, supports a healing atmosphere grounded in Christian Science, and leads staff, donors, and other stakeholders with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide prayerful, metaphysical leadership grounded in Christian Science
  • Oversee and support Arden Wood’s Christian Science nursing services in compliance with The Mother Church guidelines for Christian Science Nurses, called the Scope of Services, and in the spirit of the Manual By-Law, Christian Science Nurse
  • Serve as the public face of the organization, clearly communicating and consistently promoting the mission, vision, and strategic goals
  • Oversee financial stewardship, capital expenditures, and budgeting
  • Lead fundraising through the retention and cultivation of donor relationships
  • Partner closely with the Senior Leadership Team (6 direct reports) and the Board to set vision, strategy, and long term goals
  • Oversee a diverse multi-lingual, multi-ethnic staff of 60 that spans 5 generations while inspiring and fostering trust, accountability, and growth
  • Ensure strong operational performance, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with the local and field-wide Christian Science community and related organizations
Requirements
  • Dedicated, class‑taught Christian Scientist, member of The Mother Church, and an active branch church member
  • Experience with or considerable knowledge of Christian Science nursing and appreciation for the role of Christian Science Nurses
  • Leadership experience inclusive of inspiring a diverse team and building engagement
  • Proven experience in planning operational goals and objectives as well as leading a management team to successfully execute objectives
  • Financial acumen and stewardship
  • Willingness and ability to lead fundraising programs and to develop donor relationships
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent relationship‑building
  • Lead by example through on-site, active, full‑time presence and commitment

  • Experience with mission driven nonprofit organizations
  • Experience reporting to and collaborating with a Board of Directors
