Hope Christian Services provides care, programs, and resources for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring that each resident reaches their full potential. Our organization addresses every aspect of lifeโ€”medical, residential, social, educational, vocational, recreational, and spiritual.

Hope Christian Services opened as Eastern Christian Childrenโ€™s Retreat on December 4, 1972 as the only facility of its kind in the state of New Jersey. ECCR expanded into the community in 1986 with the development of community-based group homes, where residents enjoy supervised, supported living. In 1992 ECCR advanced its philosophy of providing a home-like setting for residents with the construction of on-site lodges.

We are seeking a compassionate and licensed Occupational Therapist to join our team on a Per Diem basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OT seeking flexible scheduling while making a meaningful impact in the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, develops, and implements therapeutic interventions designed to improve functional independence, daily living skills, sensory processing, motor development, and overall quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This role works collaboratively with residential staff, nursing, behavioral supports, families, guardians, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure individuals receive comprehensive, person-centered services.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Evaluate functional abilities, needs, strengths, and goals through assessments, observations, and clinical judgment.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote independence and participation in daily activities.
  • Address fine motor, gross motor, sensory integration, self-care, cognitive, and adaptive living skills.
  • Recommend and train individuals and staff in the use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
  • Provide education and consultation to direct support staff, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with professional standards and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and care planning discussions.
  • Assist in supporting resident health, safety, and well-being in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and person-centered therapeutic environment.
Required
  • Current Occupational Therapy License in the State of New Jersey in good standing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
Preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of sensory processing strategies and positive behavior supports.
  • Experience with adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and assistive technology.
