The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polyethylene. Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (La Porte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with a division office in League City, TX.

How the Role Fits in:

We are seeking a Production Engineer to provide daily technical support for the CBW site. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations of unit systems with a focus on day-to-day unit support and short-term operational excellence. The Production Engineer reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to sustain stable unit performance and compliance with all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for operations to ensure safe, stable, and efficient performance.
  • Monitor daily process conditions and perform rapid troubleshooting of operating and equipment issues.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with PSM requirements, including operating envelope monitoring and prompt resolution of deviations.
  • Maintain environmental compliance through routine monitoring, reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with Operations and Maintenance to support routine operations, maintenance execution, startups, shutdowns, and outages.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, identify root causes, and drive closure of corrective actions.
  • Initiate and manage Management of Change (MOC) activities for safe implementation of operational improvements.
  • Support short-term optimization and reliability improvements to reduce variability and sustain on-plan operations.
Skills & Knowledge RequiredEducation & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in process engineering, production/operations support, or plant engineering in chemical manufacturing, refining, utilities, or power generation environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong process engineering fundamentals and familiarity with industrial systems. Demonstrated understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and OSHA/EPA regulations related to chemical plant operations.
  • Safety & Compliance Orientation: Proven commitment to operational safety, environmental compliance, and process safety practices in a plant setting. Experience participating in or leading incident investigations, hazard analyses, or similar safety processes is required.
Skills & Competencies
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment issues methodically using data and engineering principles and implement effective solutions under time constraints.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Strong communication skills to collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and cross-functional teams. Able to convey complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical personnel and provide timely guidance during operational events.
  • Attention to Safety & Detail: Diligent about following safety procedures, recognizing hazards, and ensuring detailed compliance with operating envelopes and standards. High attention to detail in monitoring and record-keeping.
  • Proactive & Adaptable: Self-motivated to anticipate issues, identify improvement opportunities, and handle changing priorities effectively in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment.
