Job description

The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading and creating product designs for internally or externally funded research and development programs, to include the development of armor, blast attenuating seats, and other technologies for ground vehicles, aircrafts, and a wide variety of infrastructure security needs. Additionally, the Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring new products meet specified requirements, as well as overseeing prototype build, qualification testing, and successful transition of products to production. The Chief Engineer is responsible for developing and/or reviewing technical documents to support CDRLS/SDRLS, design reviews, testing, requirements tracking, trade studies, bids and proposals, etc. Furthermore, the Chief Engineer is responsible for developing key performance matrices for development projects, standard operating procedures, and support ArmorWorks' business development team. Lastly, the Chief Engineer shall be able to operate autonomously with little to no oversight and shall work to grow individuals within the department.
Assignment of Functions or Duties:
Managing and/or assisting with design and develop of new technologies and products using SolidWorks. (30%)
Development/Review of technical documents (Design reviews, trade studies, test plans/reports, etc.). (30%)
Oversee the maintenance of legacy production products and standard operating procedures/processes. (20%)
Assist with bid and proposal efforts. (20%)

Minimum Requirements of Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Required

  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or higher.
  • Over 10 years of experience in product development & 5 or more year's experience related to ArmorWorks products.
  • Strong work ethic, high attention to detail, excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Highly Proficient with SolidWorks and strong understanding of project management.
  • Expert understanding of ASME Y14.100 and ASME-Y14.5 drawing & tolerance standards for design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with DoD product development related to ground combat, marine, and aircraft platforms.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Over 3 years of experience with composite systems, electronics integration, signature management, & Seating systems.

Preferred

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or higher.
