Chief Engineer - JLLWhat this job involves:

JLL is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead engineering and maintenance operations at our Round Rock, Texas facility. This critical leadership role is responsible for providing strategic direction and daily oversight of facility infrastructure, building systems, maintenance programs, and engineering personnel. As Chief Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical leader for the site, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all building systems and critical infrastructure.

You will manage engineering staff, drive preventive and corrective maintenance excellence, coordinate vendor partnerships, and champion operational improvements that align with JLL and client expectations. This role requires a proven leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional customer service focus, and the ability to drive accountability while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. You will partner closely with the Engineering Manager, Facilities Management team, operations leadership, vendors, and client stakeholders to deliver outstanding service, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure system reliability across the facility.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Lead, supervise, coach, and provide technical direction to engineering and maintenance personnel while establishing clear expectations for safety, work quality, professionalism, and productivity
  • Manage daily work order execution through CMMS platforms (Corrigo, ServiceNow), including prioritization, assignment, monitoring, and quality auditing to ensure on-time completion and proper documentation
  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and reliability of facility infrastructure including HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire life safety, building automation, generators, UPS systems, and critical equipment
  • Drive preventive maintenance program compliance, monitor PM completion rates, address recurring equipment failures, and recommend reliability improvements to reduce reactive maintenance
  • Coordinate and provide technical oversight for vendor and contractor activities, ensuring work is performed safely, documented accurately, and completed to site standards
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for system failures, equipment issues, and facility emergencies
  • Ensure compliance with JLL, client, OSHA, environmental, and safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, confined space entry, and other high-risk work programs.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate degree, trade school completion, technical certification, or equivalent military experience preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in facilities engineering, maintenance operations, building systems, or critical infrastructure environments
  • 2-3 years of experience providing technical direction, mentoring, or serving as lead technician for engineering or maintenance activities
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire life safety, building automation, generators, UPS systems, and facility infrastructure
  • Proven experience managing work orders, preventive maintenance programs, corrective maintenance activities, vendor coordination, and maintenance documentation using CMMS platforms
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to read technical documents, drawings, specifications, and procedures; proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance/operations software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CMMS platforms such as Corrigo, ServiceNow, or Maximo
  • Background supporting large-scale corporate campuses, mission-critical facilities, laboratories, advanced technology environments, manufacturing facilities, or data center operations
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and electrical power monitoring systems
  • Professional certifications such as Universal EPA Certification, Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), or equivalent technical credentials
  • Experience coordinating facility shutdowns, infrastructure maintenance activities, and operational risk management programs
  • Proven track record leading engineering teams within client-facing facilities management environments.

1st Shift, 8-hour schedule. Must be available to work holidays, respond to site emergencies, and support after-hours operations as needed.

Salary/Comp:

$84,600 to $120,800
