OUR STORY
THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE, a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family assumed ownership of the Chicago Cubs and established three main goals for the organization: Win the World Series, Preserve and Improve Wrigley Field, and Be a Good Neighbor.
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:
The Chicago Cubs are seeking a Part-Time Mascot Handler to serve as an incremental, as-needed addition to our mascot program staff. This role is intended to help ensure appropriate coverage across all home games, community appearances, and non-gameday events during periods of increased activity or overlapping coverage needs. This position does not include guaranteed hours and schedules will vary based on event demand.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Assist the Mascot Coordinator during performances for select Chicago Cubs home games, community and Cubs events, and other MLB scheduled events.
  • Support the Mascot Coordinator and Manager, Brand Activation in creating and implementing an in-game repertoire and schedule for all home games and special events
  • Help strengthen the Cubs Mascot program through continued and new programming execution and social media content generation
  • Aid in managing and maintaining mascot costumes, outfits, props, vehicles and other program required items
  • Assist the Mascot Coordinator in creating new entertainment and building on past successes for use at performances, including pre and post-game festivities, in-ballpark interaction and improvisation and off-site event entertainment
  • Represent the Chicago Cubs in a professional and appropriate manner at all times
  • Actively contribute to the goals of the Marketing Department and the organization to promote the Chicago Cubs throughout the community
  • Serves as an on-call backup mascot performer, stepping into costume to maintain continuity of appearances, engage audiences, and uphold brand standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and flexible event schedules (including potential postseason)
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in fast-paced environments
  • Experience in live events, promotions, athletics, entertainment, or guest services preferred
  • One year demonstrated success in promotional marketing and event execution
  • Prior back-up mascot experience preferred

Candidates must be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Navigate stairs, ramps, uneven surfaces, and crowded public spaces
  • Lift, carry, and transport equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Work in loud, high-energy environments with large crowds
  • Perform duties indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Maintain situational awareness and respond quickly to changing conditions
