Opportunity

The Cheesemonger is a knowledgeable and passionate specialist responsible for curating, handling, and selling a wide variety of cheeses and cured meats.  This role involves educating customers, maintaining product quality, and creating an engaging shopping experience centered around artisan, specialty cheeses, and cured meats.  

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert knowledge on cheese and cured meat varieties, origins, pairings, and storage
  • Assist customers with recommendations based on taste preferences, recipes, and occasions
  • Cut, wrap, weigh, and label cheese and cured meat products accurately and attractively
  • Maintain proper storage and rotation of cheeses and meats to ensure freshness and prevent spoilage
  • Create and maintain visually appealing displays and merchandising setups
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving shipments
  • Uphold food safety and sanitation standards at all times
  • Host tastings, demos, or educational events to promote cheese products
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., wine, bakery) for cross-merchandising opportunities
  • Assist in other food production areas as needed
  • Follow dress code and grooming standards that reflect the upscale environment
