Overview

This position is responsible for providing evidence-based emotional and spiritual support to patients and families as well identify and address religious needs relevant to their goals and those of interdisciplinary care teams. This position also supports the pastoral needs of staff and contributes to the vitality of the Beebe Healthcare organization.

Responsibilities

Care of Persons: Displaying advanced interpersonal communications and other human relations skills as well as competent religious leadership, the chaplain delivers effective pastoral care to patients, families and staff in a broad range of settings. The chaplain ensures their emotional and spiritual needs are met through evidence-based practices for routine care, bereavement, or crisis intervention. Ritual and sacramental needs are met through direct care or timely referral. Pastoral encounters with patients and families are documented promptly and include assessment, intervention and any continuing plan of care. In the hospital setting, a member of the Pastoral Care team will be available for emergent needs at all times, including days, weekends, and overnight shifts.

Care of Organizations: Within Beebe Healthcare, interdisciplinary relationships are maintained by attending and actively participating in patient care rounds, family meetings and interdisciplinary consultations. Pastoral care is promoted as an integral healthcare discipline through participation in institutional programs and public events. Mutually beneficial relationships that promote Beebe's goals and values are established and maintained with community religious organizations, including the Pastoral Visitor program. Where appropriate, volunteers are recruited and supervised. Other duties as assigned.

Care of Self: The chaplain maintains professional affiliations and participates in professional development activities. Institutional, professional, and personal resources will be utilized to promote personal growth and wellbeing.

Qualifications

Ability to run errands throughout facility.

Bachelor's degree preferred.
