Job description

Job Title: Avionics Technician – Sikorsky UH-60 Installations

Job Description

This role focuses on installing, modifying, and repairing avionics and electrical systems on Sikorsky UH-60 helicopters in a climate-controlled hangar environment. The technician uses their own etched and shadowed tools to perform high-quality work on military aircraft, ensuring reliable performance and adherence to strict safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform avionics installations, modifications, and repairs on Sikorsky UH-60 helicopters and related platforms such as UH-60, SH-60, CH-47, and CH-53.
  • Troubleshoot complex helicopter avionics and electrical systems to identify root causes of malfunctions and implement effective repairs.
  • Install, test, and verify avionics systems and aircraft electrical components in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, and engineering instructions.
  • Conduct detailed inspections of avionics electrical systems to ensure proper operation, safety, and compliance with military and aviation standards.
  • Use personal etched and shadowed tool sets to complete all assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance personnel to coordinate aircraft modifications and system upgrades.
  • Document work performed, including installations, repairs, and modifications, in maintenance records and logs as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on and around aircraft, including proper use of steel toe boots and other required attire.
  • Support the process of securing and maintaining required security clearances by adhering to all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and care for tools and equipment to ensure readiness and reliability for ongoing aircraft support.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of Sikorsky avionics experience on aircraft, specifically on platforms such as UH-60, SH-60, CH-47, or CH-53.
  • Demonstrated military experience working with helicopters or aircraft avionics systems.
  • Hands-on experience with helicopter avionics repair, troubleshooting, and installation.
  • Strong experience in aircraft electrical and avionics electrical systems.
  • Proven experience performing avionics modifications, installations, and repairs on rotary-wing aircraft.
  • Ability to use and maintain personal tools that are properly etched and shadowed.
  • Capability to secure and maintain a secret security clearance, with the ability to start work while an interim clearance is in process.
  • Experience aligned with military occupational specialties such as 15F or 15N or equivalent helicopter avionic systems.
  • Proficiency working with Sikorsky and similar platforms and avionics systems from major aerospace manufacturers.
  • Comfort working with electrical and avionics systems in a structured, safety-focused environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience working on H-60 series helicopters, including UH-60 and SH-60.
  • Experience with CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters or similar rotary-wing platforms.
  • Experience in helicopter avionics and aircraft electrical systems within a military or defense setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
