What is a certified radiology nurse?

A Certified Radiology Nurse is a registered nurse who specializes in caring for patients undergoing diagnostic imaging procedures or interventional radiology treatments. These nurses are responsible for monitoring patients before, during, and after radiological exams, administering medications, providing education, and ensuring patient safety. Certification demonstrates that the nurse has advanced knowledge and competencies specific to radiology nursing, usually validated through an exam such as the Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) credential. Certified Radiology Nurses play a vital role in facilitating communication between radiologists, patients, and other healthcare staff. Their expertise helps ensure safe, effective imaging procedures and supports positive patient outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a certified radiology nurse?
