Position Overview

VCU Medical Center is seeking an experienced Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) to support its outpatient MRI and CT Imaging Department. This role focuses on ensuring patient safety before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures while providing exceptional nursing care in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for patients undergoing outpatient MRI and CT imaging procedures.
  • Perform IV insertion for contrast administration and complete point-of-care testing (POCT).
  • Review patient medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and vital signs to ensure patients are cleared for imaging studies.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after imaging procedures and respond to any changes in condition.
  • Manage IV infiltrations, contrast reactions, patient falls, and other patient safety events.
  • Maintain MRI safety standards and complete MRI Full Stop safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
  • Accurately document patient assessments and care using EPIC Electronic Medical Records.
  • Educate patients regarding imaging procedures, contrast administration, and post-procedure instructions.
  • Follow evidence-based practices and organizational policies to promote patient safety and quality outcomes.

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
